IUV successfully concluded its participation in LOUPE Americas 2026, formerly Labelexpo Americas, held from September 15–17, 2026, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in the Chicago area.
As one of the major events serving the North American label and package printing industry, LOUPE Americas brought together printing press manufacturers, label converters, packaging producers, material suppliers, technology providers, and industry professionals from across the Americas and international markets.
Throughout the three-day exhibition, the IUV team welcomed visitors at Booth No. 3711, where we exchanged ideas with customers, printing companies, equipment manufacturers, and industry partners about the changing requirements of modern UV curing in label and package printing.
Connecting with the North American Label Printing Industry
LOUPE Americas 2026 provided IUV with an important opportunity to communicate directly with professionals involved in label printing, flexographic printing, narrow web printing, package printing, and converting.
Many discussions at the IUV booth focused not only on selecting a UV curing system, but also on how curing technology can be better integrated into real production environments.
For narrow web label converters, production requirements are becoming increasingly diverse. Printers may need to process paper labels, films, synthetic materials, pressure-sensitive labels, shrink sleeves, and other packaging substrates on the same or similar production platforms.
As a result, UV curing must work together with press speed, ink chemistry, substrate characteristics, web tension, cooling conditions, and the available installation space inside the printing press.
These practical production requirements were an important part of our conversations with visitors throughout the exhibition.
LED UV Curing and Press Retrofit Remain Important Topics
One of the recurring topics at Booth 3711 was the integration of LED UV curing systems with existing printing presses.
Many printers today operate established flexographic, offset, digital, or hybrid production equipment that still has many years of productive service remaining. Instead of replacing the entire press, manufacturers are increasingly evaluating how curing technology can be upgraded according to new production requirements.
During the show, the IUV team discussed different application conditions with visitors, including narrow web flexographic presses, label production lines, offset printing equipment, and hybrid printing configurations.
Successful UV curing integration depends on more than installing a new light source. Engineers must consider the available curing position, printing width, production speed, ink and coating compatibility, electrical configuration, cooling conditions, and communication with the press control system.
These discussions reflected a wider trend within the printing industry: curing systems are increasingly being evaluated as part of the complete printing process rather than as an isolated component.
Production Stability Becomes a Key Consideration
Another important topic discussed during LOUPE Americas was production stability at higher printing speeds.
For label converters, stable curing directly affects downstream converting, rewinding, finishing, lamination, and other production stages. Inconsistent curing can influence surface properties, adhesion, scratch resistance, finishing performance, and overall production efficiency.
This is especially important for narrow web flexographic printing, where several printing and converting processes may be completed in one production line.
Visitors were therefore interested in how UV curing systems can maintain consistent output during continuous production while adapting to different substrates, inks, coatings, and press conditions.
For IUV, these conversations are valuable because they provide direct insight into how converters and OEMs evaluate curing technology in actual production environments.
A Broader View of Labels and Package Printing
The 2026 exhibition also reflected the continued convergence between traditional label production and wider package printing applications.
While labels remain a major focus of the event, technologies used in narrow web printing are increasingly connected with flexible packaging, shrink sleeves, folding cartons, digital printing, hybrid production, automation, and advanced converting processes.
For UV curing technology suppliers, this development creates new engineering requirements.
Different applications may require different curing configurations, installation structures, thermal management strategies, and compatibility with printing inks and coatings. A curing solution that works effectively for one press or substrate cannot simply be applied to every production environment without considering the entire printing process.
This is why direct communication between curing system manufacturers, printing press OEMs, ink suppliers, and converters remains essential.
LOUPE Americas provided an effective platform for these technical conversations and for understanding how the North American printing market is evolving.
